Kurt Bakken was raised in the Napa Valley; he is the fourth of five children which all still live in Napa. He graduated with a B.A from San Diego State University with a double major and moved to Japan shortly after to teach English to students at Kyoto University. This has always been a passion for Kurt since he is half Japanese and really admires the pride and attention to detail that many of his family members possess. Upon leaving Japan, Kurt moved back to the Napa Valley to open up his own restaurant and to be near his family. Our family moved to Napa in 1987 when we purchased Distinctive Properties real estate magazine. Over the next 14 years, we expanded and built our magazines into the market leaders in the Napa Valley. In 2001, the Napa Valley Register purchased our publishing business.

Curtis is a Napa Valley native who's always been very involved with his community. He lives right here in Napa, is extremely familiar with all of Napa's unique neighborhoods and characteristics and has helped his neighborhood thrive by supporting local vendors and restaurants.
He received his license in 1991 and laid the groundwork for his success with Morgan Lane from 1997 to 2003 when he was offered a sales manager position with Old Republic Title Company. I have worked in customer service in the title and escrow industry and in real estate in various jobs for over 10 years. I started out by translating for several REALTORS® in the Valley and through that realized how important it is for the client to have a full understanding of what happens in a real estate transaction. Being bilingual has made it much easier for me to help my clients find the right home and then understand the whole process up until I hand them the keys.
I am practically a Napa native, having lived in the Napa Valley for over 24 years. I grew up in Ukiah and moved to Napa after my husband and I got married. We raised our two children here, and they both graduated from Vintage High School. Over the years I have served on various community committees for helping raise funds for local schools and local charities. Right now, though, my focus is on giving the very best service I can to my real estate clients.
My specialty is working with home buyers, either first-time or move up buyers. I also work very hard for my clients who wish to sell their homes, using a wide variety of marketing methods. In either case, you can be sure that I make every effort to keep you informed, give you all the information you need to make good decisions and really follow through so that your purchase or sale is the best experience in real estate you have ever had.
